The Plateau State Government has continued to fulfill its promise to strengthen the business of tax collection as part of its agenda for the development of the state. This was recently demonstrated by the Government’s construction and completion of a new edifice to serve as the Head Office of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service.
The gesture, the Government said, is aimed at providing the Service with a befitting structure for a conducive and enabling atmosphere for business and also to boost staff morale for efficient revenue collection.
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Dr. Jonah David Jang, during an inspection visit to the new edifice, pointed out that his administration has worked towards bequeathing a strong institution that will serve as alternative source of income generation to the State that will sustain the economy of the State, other than the Federal subvention to States on a monthly basis.
He said that his administration was poised towards positioning the State Internal Revenue Service to function optimally and assured that his Government would not relent in providing all that was necessary to achieve that.
Jang went on to drum up support on behalf of the Service by calling on the citizens to come to the office of the State Internal Revenue Service to obtain their Tax Identification Numbers as doing that will help in facilitating tax administration and management of tax payers’ data.
He opined that his administration was desirous of building a revenue hub that the state will rely upon for its finances amidst the current dwindling allocation coming from the Federation account.
The Head Office is expected to be commissioned soon.
