Members of staff at the Joint Tax Board (JTB) Secretariat lined up at the bulletin boards early in the morning on Tuesday to post heartfelt messages to their colleagues in the Admin & HR Department to mark the International HR Day 2025.
The International Human Resources Day is celebrated on the 20th of May every year.
Co-workers at the JTB posted 31 short messages written on sticky notepads on the bulletin boards, expressing how they feel about their colleagues who are managers of human resource.
Some of the messages read “personnel managers make the workplace feel like home. Today, I celebrate our Chartered Personnel Managers. Happy Int’l HR Day”, one of the staffers wrote.
Another member of staff posted, “Thank you to all the dedicated HR Professionals who make a difference in the workplace”.
One of the messages posted celebrated the versatility of human resources managers.
“Human resources managers are the unofficial lawyers, teachers, career planners, miracle workers and psychologists”.
Some of the other messages posted read.
“Human resources is not just about policies and paperwork. It’s about people, potential and purpose. On the international HR Day, we celebrate those who build culture, drive growth and shape the heart of every organisation”.
“HR is an integral part of any organisation and the JTB HR is contributing its own quota to effectively run the secretariat. Keep it up”.
The JTB which is the apex tax authority in Nigeria has a culture of promoting professionalism and celebrating its members of staff across various disciplines.
The Secretary of the Board, Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, in a goodwill message to staff on the International HR day, described HR managers as “people champions”.
Mr. Adesokan wrote, “let us take a moment to acknowledge and thank our HR team for their invaluable efforts. Their work strengthens our foundation, nurtures talent, and ensures that each of us feels valued and supported.
“At JTB, Human Resource is valued, ensuring that we foster a positive work culture, drive employee well-being, and create opportunities for growth and development through innovation. Your dedication and commitment to excellence make a profound impact on every aspect of our workplace.”
The Head of Admin and HR at the JTB, Mallam Aminu Ya’u, appreciated his co-workers for their kind reviews and feedback, saying that the HR Department will continue to prioritise the well-being and satisfaction of their colleagues.
Hear him: “I am very happy about the messages we’ve received from our colleagues. Always, our expectation is to get feedback, so that we will know how to serve them (our colleagues) better. We are here because of them, without them, we won’t have a job as HR managers.
“That is why we adopt a customer-centric approach to human resource management at the JTB. We see our personnel from the customer’s lens. As such, we work to meet their satisfaction because our goal is to improve performance by meeting their expectations.”
The theme for this year’s International HR Day is “HumanifyAI: Leading Change Together”.
