COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE JOINT TAX BOARD (JTB) HELD VIRTUALLY ON TUESDAY, 9TH MAY 2023

The emergency meeting was organized to deliberate on the draft Presumptive Tax Regulations.

The Board deliberated on various issues and adopted the following
resolutions:
1. That there is need for a body of Regulations for the administration
of the Presumptive Tax regime, to achieve uniformity and harmony
in the taxation of the informal sector and for improved revenue
generation to the government.

2. That the approved draft Presumptive Tax Regulations 2023 be
forwarded to the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and
National Planning for approval and subsequent signing in line with
provisions of the Personal Income Tax Act (as amended).

3. That The Federal Road Safety Corps (FSC), in collaboration with
the various State Revenue Authorities, commence the issuance of
the Digital Driver’s License (DDL), in line with global best practices.

4. That Proof of Ownership Certificate (PoC) be issued to motorists
on an annual basis, to track the real-time status and guarantee the
integrity of all vehicles registered on the National Vehicle
Identification Scheme (NVIS) database.
